New guidelines for self-financing colleges

Kottayam: Mahatma Gandhi University has implemented the revised guidelines formulated by the State government for granting no objection certificates (NOC) necessary to introduce new courses and increasing the intake in the existing courses at self-financing colleges.

The Government Order No. 25093/J2/11/H.Edn.(1), dated 17/08/2011, has made it mandatory for such colleges to ensure that facilities that are provided are proportionate to the increase in the intake or additional course as stipulated by the pproving body such as the All India Council for Technical Education, Council of Architecture (CoA) or the universities. The self-financing colleges must submit an affidavit stating the same.
The order was issued as many self-financing colleges have commenced new courses and increased the intake without adequate infrastructure.
