A nostalgic trip back to college days
Kochi: The souvenir brought out by the old students of the Maharaja's College is full of nostalgia. The former students have been most forthcoming in sharing some of their cherished memories of being part of the educational institution. And one gets a glimpse of the college in transition through the ages.
Justice K. Sukumaran recalled the importance of the yellow card which is an invitation to join the most prestigious higher education institution. He also remembers the wonderful handwriting of the clerk who wrote on the card, the fun in the classes and respect that the teachers commanded.
The college is a melting pot of talented young people from across the State along with the best faculty from within Kerala, says Venu Rajamoni, IFS, in his memoir.
T. V. R. Shenoy recalls that the Maharaja's during his student days was an institution where the professors were not ‘employees' but the guardians of a tradition of excellence, where teachers would go out of their way to prod students who weren't even in their departments.
