Seminar series at NSS Hindu College
Changanassery: A series of UGC-sponsored National seminars is being organised at the N.S.S. Hindu College. The seminars will be conducted in the disciplines of Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Commerce.
The inaugural seminar, on the topic ‘Conservation of the Marine Environment and Management of Marine Fisheries' will be conducted by the PG and research department of Zoology on Friday.
Dignitaries including T.P. Srinivasan, vice-chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council; V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, executive vice-president, Kerala State Council for Science, Technology and Environment; B. Venkatraman, senior scientist at the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Chennai; N. Gopakumar, deputy secretary, South Western Regional Office, University Grants Commission; and N. Jayasankaran, former vice-chancellor, Gaya University would inaugurate the seminars and participate in the following discussions.
According to the college authorities, eminent academicians and scholars from prestigious academic institutions and research establishments from all over India will present theme papers. They include E.D. Jemmis, director of the Indian Institute for Science Education and Research, Thiruvanathapruam; Y.S. Mayya, scientist, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai; Santhanu Bhattacharya, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore; Mishra A.K., Indian Institute of Technology, Chennai; A. Ajayaghosh, scientist, Regional Research Laboratory, Thiruvananthapuram; and M. R. Anantharaman, professor, Cochin University of Science and Technology.
More than hundred research papers will be presented in these seminars and best research papers in various disciplines will be given cash awards. The proceedings of the seminars will be released at the inaugural function.
