TKM college fete begins tomorrow

Kollam: The annual four-day technical and cultural festival of the TKM College of Engineering here, Conjura-12, will be inaugurated by Industries Minister P.K. Kunhalikutty on the college campus on February 23.

TKM College Trust chairman Shahal Hassan Musaliar will preside. Principal Secretary of the Kerala State Science and Technology Department V.N. Rajashekaran Pillai will inaugurate the technical events, and film director Shaji N. Karun will inaugurate the cultural events. Associate editor of Madhyamam Yasin Ashraf will deliver the keynote address.
College Principal S. Suresh Babu said that the theme of Conjura-12 is “engineering a safer and greener tomorrow”. At the interactive session on the first day, director of the Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant M. Kashinath Balaji will talk on the subject “nuclear safety”. Later that day, the former Finance Minister of Kerala T.M. Thomas Isaac will speak on the subject “integrating environment and economy”. On February 24, writer and environment activist Nityanand Jayaram will talk on the subject “toxic-free future”. On February 25, there will be a panel discussion on “sustainable development”. Additional Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar, Ernakulam District Collector P.I. Shaik Pareeth and Chairman of the Indian Council of Gandhian Studies N. Radhakrishnan will speak.

Former Education Minister M.A. Baby will preside over the valedictory function on February 26. Former Chief Secretary D. Babu Paul will deliver the valedictory address.
