New vacation pattern for MG University approved
Kochi: The Higher Education Department has directed all colleges and officers concerned to furnish a report on and ensure compliance with the Mahatma Gandhi University notification on the new pattern of vacation in November and May.
The Principal Secretary, Higher Education, has ordered the publication of the Mahatma Gandhi University notification on November - May semester break as an extraordinary gazette in the immediate edition of the government gazette.
Senior university officials said that the new pattern of vacation in affiliated arts and science colleges of the university marked another milestone in the history of the choice-based credit semester and grading programme introduced in the 2009-10 academic year.
The monitoring committee of the State Higher Education Council for credit semester programme has also recommended the Mahatma Gandhi University November-May semester breaks pattern for other universities in the State.
The academic year for all colleges affiliated to the university and educational institutions and departments maintained by it will now begin on June 1 each year and end on May 31 the next year.
The academic year will consist of two semesters of six months duration, except for the B.Ed. programme.
