Payyannur College leads in varsity fete

Kannur: Payyannur College is leading in the race for the championship in the Kannur University Union Festival on the second day of the cultural event on Saturday.

The host, Sree Narayana College and Vimal Jyothi Engineering College (VJEC), Chemberi, were closely behind the race.
When 32 events were completed in the evening, Payyannur College was leading with 78 points, while the S.N. College and VJEC were in the second and third positions with 67 and 60 points.

The host college wore a festive look on the second day of the festival, with large number of students, parents and local people visiting the campus to see the cultural event.

First prize winners:

Mohiniyattam: M. Sreelekha, VJEC; Kathakali: R.U. Meera, Payyannur College; Keralanatanam: M. Sreelekha (VJEC); Kuchipudi: T.P. Ashwini, Pazhassi Raja NSS (PRNSS) College, Mattannur; Hindustani music (men): K. Shijil, University Campus, Mangattuparamba; Hindustani music (women): Sruthi Philip, VJEC; Mono Act: K.V. Ashith, Sree Narayana Guru Engineering College (SNGEC), Payyannur; Kathaprasangam: SNGEC; Mappila Song (single): M.A. Bensseera Rasheed, Gurudev Arts and Science College, Maathil.

In the group items PRNSS College team won the first prize in Thiruvathirakkali (women), Government College, Kasaragod, was the winner Yakshaganam contest and Payyannur College bagged the first prize in Malayalam drama competition.
