NUALS convocation today

Kochi: The third annual convocation of the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (NUALS) will be held here on Saturday.

K.S. Radhakrishnan, Supreme Court judge, will deliver the convocation address. Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court S.R. Bannurmath will preside over the function and award the degrees, according to an official release.
M. A. Baby, Minister for Education, will be the chief guest on the occasion. N. K. Jayakumar, Vice-Chancellor of NUALS, members of the executive, general and academic councils of the university, judges, elected representatives, advocate general, senior lawyers, and bar councillors will attend.

Justice Radhakrishnan will award the C. K. Sivasankara Panicker memorial gold medal for the best law student; V. R. Krishna Iyer Foundation gold medal for the best constitutional law student; T. R. Raman Pillai memorial gold medal for the best student in criminal law and procedure; and NUALS PTA gold medal for the second best outgoing student.

The release said that many students, who will receive the degrees, have started practising with leading lawyers while a few have preferred higher studies in the country or abroad. Students have also joined corporate law firms through campus recruitment.
